The weather now is good. This is my favorite weather. Between now and when all the leaves have fallen is the weather I like. The other day the sky was so beautiful I took a picture of it. That picture looks like this:

It was really something to look at.

This whole week at BBuy I'm working overnight shifts from 10p-6a. I volunteered for these shifts not only because I get paid time and a half, but also for the reason that it's something I like doing. No inept customers to help, only simple, relatively painless tasks to accomplish. You come in street clothes, listen to your iPod and do something that needs doing.

Tonight's task was farming DVDs. Farming is the term Best Buy uses for organizing product, whether it be DVDs, CDs, or Videogames. I've never asked why they call it farming because I doubt there's an answer worth hearing and I don't care anyhow. But that's what farming is. You take out misfiles and put products in ABC order. So farming's what we did--me, Mike, and Denise--and we did it to the entire movie section. Denise did Blu-ray, HD-DVD, TV, Action/Adventure, Martial Arts, and War/Western. Mike did Comedy, Drama, Children's, and Family. I farmed Anime, Science Fiction, Horror, Sports/Fitness, and Miscellaneous, except I did it backwards for personal reasons.

I like farming. It's my bag because I'm the best at it. I've got a keen understanding of the English alphabet and I juxtapose like you've never seen. No one puts one thing next to another like I do, especially DVDs. But it's awfully futile and thankless work; within the next few days, depending on how busy it gets, nothing will be where it belongs. It's hard work that gets shit on without consideration. As good as I am at putting things where they belong, customers are much better at putting things wherever they please. It's easier to do that, so who could blame them? The convenience of finding an item in its right place will never match the convenience of not caring. Whatever, though.

Tomorrow's task? I don't even know. Probably farming CDs, but I don't know. I've given myself tasks outside of Best Buy to be accomplished this week as well, such as cleaning a beard, renewing my room, and growing my passport, not necessarily in that order.

After farming, you develop a nearly photographic memory of the DVDs or CDs we carry in the store. Ask me. I know.
